«Debate Amongst Specialists is Essential in order to Progress»
He is Professor of Fine Arts in the University of New York and one of the most important specialists in the Spanish painting of the Gold Century. He is 69 years old, and has been working as a hispanist for 50 years. He has a large collection of publications behind him, many of them about Velazquez and his work. He has dedicated the last years to the colonial painting that according to what he says «it was underestimated» and to the teaching: «I feel glad to have supervised over 30 doctoral thesis about the Spanish Art in the whole world. We will all win... there are still so many things to investigate!»
