Ribera: a New Finding
Purchased by the National Museum in Warsaw in 1946, the work has remained attributed to Italian painter Francesco Guarino (1611-1654). However, Gianni Papi, one of the leading experts in the Spanish master's work, do not hesitate to ascribe it to Ribera and place it in his Roman period around 1617. It could even be the first version of the San Sebastian painted for the Duke of Osuna.
