St. John the Baptist in the Desert and the Canon of the Young Velázquez
Alonso Cano and Diego de Velázquez competed for the authorship of the work San Juan Bautista en el desierto of the Art Institute of Chicago. Its exceptional quality reveals that the hands of the executant were incredible and they worked in the environment of Andalucia.
