Sorolla and the spirit of the avant-garde
The dawn of the twentieth century brought an artistic revolution that affected the way of conceiving art. The avant-garde took over the international scene and captured the critics of the moment. In this context, Joaquin Sorolla developed a naturalistic painting full of light and color. His customs and his realistic scenes were maligned. Now, the Prado Museum rescues him from oblivion with the biggest retrospective of the Valencian ever made. Facundo Tomás and Felipe Garin take advantage of this opportunity to defend his work.
