Rediscovering Velázquez
During his stay at Yale University, John Marciari stumbled upon a singular canvas in the museum’s basement. Its beauty captured the curator. The restoration of the piece, still in process, and its features led him to situate it in the Sevillian period of Diego Velázquez. It is the first time that we publish the painting, which might be the most significant addition to this master’s oeuvre in the last century.
