Expresionist and mystic
Is one of the most original and at the same time least well known artists of the twentieth century. His works, which dwell on human nature, combine a passionate Catholicism and a closeness to the less advantaged with a dramatic use of color and shapes. The Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao exhibits for the first time some of the paintings donated by his family to the Pompidou, which until now rested in the warehouse.
