The last of Duran

A little bit of everything seems to be the motto in the Madrid auction house this December

Madrid, 11/21/11

A nice pair of Still Lifes attributed to the seventeenth century Spanish school with a starting price of 2.500 euros will kick off the 23rd of November sale. Followed by an anoymous canvas of very good quality of St. Peter Alcántara that starts in 3.000 euros which closely follows the iconogrophy of the saint with the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove fluttering over his head will the monk writes his well known treaty of Meditation.

A Spanish seventeenth century composition of the Entombment appears to be heavely influenced by Italian models and presents a range of specially cold colors such as blue, violet and purple. Surprisingly low is the starting price of Jacinto Melendez´s Pieta. It is also the last of the old master works of note of the thriteen that will be offered this month, some of them well known to the usual public.

A very diverse array of Modern paintings will secede the Spartan selection of old masters with Bullfighter by Daniel Vázquez Díaz which starts at 16.000 euros and a landscape by Dario de Regoyos also starting in 16.000 euros. Antonio Medina, Pedro Muiño Fernández and Oscar Domínguez will complete the Contemporary art offer.

Decorative arts are generously suppplied with German, Italian, Spanish and Chinese porcelain, as well as miniature portraits and silver pieces. Last but not least an SGT Rolls Royce, Silver Cloud model from 1964 completely restored and recently painted will go to auction for the ridicolously low sum of 47.500 euros.

Books, jewels, wrist watches and coins will aslso be sold on the 22, 23 and 24 of November as is the custom at Duran. Alfonso Carbajo Agrasar
