Intereses comunes, personales y propios se muestran en la exposición que acogen el Palacio Real y el Museo del Prado

Expresiones artísticas semejantes e identidades compartidas. Ese es el punto de partida de la muestra La Pintura de los Reinos, que busca semejanzas y diferencias entre la pintura mexicana o peruana con respecto de la europea, especialmente la española. 

Similar artistic expressions and shared identities. This is the starting point of the exhibition: Painting from the colonies, which looks for similarities and differences between Mexican and Peruvian painting in respect to their European counterpart, specialy Spanish.

Esta exposición ha sido definida por alguno de sus organizadores como ambiciosa y nada usual por su tamaño y propósito. Para  Jonathan Brown, comisario de la muestra, se trata de “una revisión de modelos” que deja a un lado el concepto del siglo XIX basada en los nacionalismos. “No responde con las fronteras actuales sino con la época”, ha explicado.

This exhibit has been defined by some of the organizers as ambitious and completely atypical in regard to its size and purpose. For Jonathan Brown, curator of the array, it is "a revision of models" leaving aside the nineteenth century concept based on nationalisms. "It does not respond with actual frontiers but to the timeline", he expalined.

También para Miguel Zugaza, director del Prado, se trata de  una visión actualizada de los modelos pictóricos del Nuevo y Viejo Mundos,  a través de obras sin  precedentes llegadas de distintos virreinatos. 

Also for Miguel Zugaza, director of the Prado, it is an updated vision of the pictorial models from the old and news world, through unprecedented works from the  colonies.

Las fechas de presentación de la muestra que tiene doble sede, en el Palacio Real y el Museo del Prado, se han hecho coincidir con el Bicentenario de los movimientos de independencia de las repúblicas iberoamericanas. En el Palacio Real de Madrid se presentan 68 de las 100 obras que  componen la exhibición. El Museo del Prado acoge las 32 restantes.

The dates of the inauguration of the show which is doubley housed by the Royal palace and the Prado musuem, have been set to concide with the bicentary of the independent movements in the Iberamerican republics. In the Royal palace in Madrid 68 of the 100 works that complete the show are exhibited. The Prado museum exhibits the remaining 32.  

El recorrido del Palacio Real se ha dividido en tres capítulos. El primero trata sobre la formación de un lenguaje común, donde se incluyen cuadros de Berruguete, Zurbarán o Juan de Juanes, entre otros. El segundo cuenta el modo en que este lenguaje pasó a tierras americanas, especialmente a través de europeos que se trasladaron allí. El tercero muestra las diferencias y similitudes entre ambos lenguajes.

The array at the Royal palace has been divided in three. The first one deals with the formation of the common language with paintings by Berruguete, Zúrbarán or Juan de Juanes, among others. The second tells us how the language came about in the American land, specially through the europeans who settled there. The third shows the differences and similarities between both languages.

Tal vez por eso, las obras no se han colocado por escuelas geográgicas sino por asuntos,  de manera que resulta más fácil encontrar  parecidos y diferencias. Los Desposorios de la Virgen y San José, los Arcángeles o Cristo Crucificado son algunos de los temas sobre los que reflexionan los pintores, ya sean españoles, mexicanos o peruanos.

maybe that is why the works have not been placed according to geographical schools but by themes and therefore more adequate to find simmilarities and differences. The Marriadge of the Virgin and St Joseph, The archangels or the Crucified Christ are some of the themes reflected by painters, either Spanish, Mexican or Peruvian.

La obra que sintetiza mejor el espíritu y los fines de esta exposición es Unión de la descendencia imperial incaica con la casa de Loyola y Borja, de autor anónimo, procedente del Museo Pedro de Osma de Lima. Representa la boda de un sobrino de San Ignacio de Loyola con un noble inca.

In the Prado museum the exhibition is divided in six sections: The models, sixteenth century painters, Naturalism, Barocque, "Inmaculate Conception, The series of sTheresa or the series women to the divine or saints to the human". Works by Cristóbal de Villalpando, Juan Correa, Echave y Zurbarán, as well as Claudio Coello, Carreo de Miranda, José Antolinez and others.

La exposición podrá visitarse hasta el 30 de enero en Madrid. Después viajará hasta el Palacio de Cultura Banamex- uno de sus patrocinadores- en ciudad de Méjico.

the exhibition will be on view until the 30th of january in Madrid. Afterwards it will travel to the palace of Culture Banamex-one of the patrons-in Mexico city.
