From the Infancy of Christ to his Resurrection, nine works from the permanent collection of Ancient Paintings illustrating scenes meaningful life of the Redeemer from great masters of the fourteenth to eighteenth centuries. This is how the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid wants to join the celebration of Jornada Mundial de la Juventud (JMJ2011) held in Madrid from 16 to 21 this August. Works like Jesus among the Doctors (1506) by Albrecht Dürer or Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well (c. 1640-1641) by Il Guercino, exemplifying the visitor to become familiar with the representation of the figure of Christ in art European painting of the modern age. 

Tables and fabrics that represent both his public life as his miracles and glory, receiving the best schools in the north -Flemish, Dutch and German-, and south (of Italy): a small work of Duccio di Buoninsegna entitled Christ and the Samaritan (1310-1311), who belonged to the predella of the Maestà of Siena; a miracle, Christ in the storm of the Sea of ​​Galilee (1590), played on copper by Jan Brueghel; The pool of Bethsaida (1724), where the painter Giovanni Paolo Panini imagine a classical architectural setting; its companion, The Purification of the Temple (1724), which is preamble to the Passion; or The Supper at Emmaus (c. 1633-1639) by Matthias Stom of that chose for his picture the moment when Christ reveals his identity to the disciples after blessing and passing the bread. 

The works have been installed in the showroom Context, in the Balcony-Mirador on the first floor of the museum, with direct access from the central hall. Admission is free. The exhibition coincides with the summer timetable of the Museum: also open until 11 pm Tuesday through Saturday; Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm. Until September 4 at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid.
